Question by Bluebeard’s Wife: Why does the UN think “traditional values are the foundation for human rights”? Why are feminists against it?
The UN Human Rights Council passed a resolution supporting “traditional family values”, sponsored by Russia. Apparently feminists are not happy about this, and are comparing “traditional values” to honor killings and spousal abuse. Why is the normally pro-feminist UN supporting “traditional family values”, and why do feminists feel so threatened by traditional family values?

Sponsored by the Russian Federation, the resolution was passed by a vote of 26 to 15, with 6 abstentions. Just like the Amsterdam Declaration adopted by World Congress of Families V (http://www.worldcongress.org/WCF5/wcf5.dec.htm), the resolution reaffirms the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Feminists have since gone ballistic, citing the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, who identifies “traditional practices” to include “female genital mutilation, honor killings, spousal abuse, dowry-related violence and customary laws that deny women equality.”"

Governments should not dictate it’s people’s “roles”
The people should decide for themselves.
If people want traditional roles, so be it.
But if they don’t, the government shouldn’t butt their nosy arses in other people’s business!!
